Some cities are worth a quick stop. Bari rewards a slower stay.

Five nights gave us time to unpack, settle in, and experience the city’s rhythm rather than race through it. We had enough time for two major day trips, plenty of evenings in Bari, and space for spontaneous discoveries.

That extra time changed the feel of the trip. Southern Italy shines when you leave room for long lunches, lingering in piazzas, extra espresso stops, and the kind of wandering that doesn’t show up on itineraries.

We start our visit to the Czech Republic by heading to the town of Pilzen about 45 miles west of Prague to visit Pilsner Urquell, the home of the first “pilsner” lager. Pilsner Urquell has been brewing the same recipe from this location since 1842.

Cornwall, England, has a history of fascinating destinations. We are tracing the maritime heritage in Falmouth with the long-standing Pendennis Castle, learning about tin mining, and visiting the romanticized birthplace of the legendary King Arthur at Tintagel Castle.
